SONCITIES STUDIO joins forces with the University of Oxford’s EMPRES (Electronic Music Practice Research) Collective and Modern Art Oxford for a night of performance and conversation exploring boundaries between music, art, and technology. The evening will feature compositions, installations and performances exploring spatial audio, sonic urbanism, and sonic architecture. It will feature a conversation with sound artist and TORCH Visiting Fellow Shiva Feshareki; and a book launch for Stereophonica: Sound and Space in Science, Technology, and the Arts (2021) by Gascia Ouzounian. New works by Matilde Meireles, Gerard Gormley (aka being strangers), Jonathan Packham, and Merijn Royaards.
The evening will conclude with a live audiovisual performance, Rewiring Brutalism, by the art duo Photolanguage and musique concrète collective Langham Research Centre. This edition of Rewiring Brutalism will incorporate new site locations and brutalist architecture from around Oxford city centre.
